Re: Can't activate or can't login?

Post by SteveW »

Just had a problem in that the site did not recognize me password. Eventually asked for and received a new password - all OK.

Now can't access "view unread messages". Me or the system?

Regards

There's been a couple reporting problems logging in but in most cases it's because in our forum you need to have both capital and non capital letters. Most cases it get's forgotten.
I've tried to replicate any faults that others are getting but I just don't get any.
Steve if you clicked "forget board cookies" on that sign in page then the forum will forget both who you are & which topics you've read.
I'm not sure that just re-issueing you a new password that your unread topics would be forgotten or not.

I'll keep exploring. I hadn't made any changes of my own accord. For your information the browser is Chrome. I have just found that if I change to Internet Explorer is is OK. I also use a Mac/Safari and that is still OK.

A bit more info: When I click "Board Index" on the Topics page the "View Unread Posts" button flashes for half a second then disappears.

Sounds like a compatability problem.
Does it do the same for the other STYLE?
Is your Java up to date?
Strange one indeed!

Happy to go PM on this if you prefer - so as not to bother others.

Been out for dinner. Came home and found myself disconnected from the "remain logged in" and then unable to log in again because of incorrect user or password. I'll check the Java. Doing this post on the mac - still functioning on the original settings.
Weird.

No... keep it going here as a couple of others are having a little trouble too.
Can you go in on the Mac & change your password & then try that from a PC?
I'm hesitant to advise people to delete all of their cookies because, in my case anyway, I would then need to re enter details to access hundreds of sites on the Internet plus other info lost........
You aren't mixing up the old website addresses?

Mac/Safari working fine. PC/Chrome logging in OK but "view unread posts" not appearing. Might be a change in the chrome thing. Java is updated.

OK, I'll investigate. It sounds like Chrome doesn't have "compatable" mode.
You know it's ironic but I spent weeks (on & off) trying to get the Tapatalk plugin going and in the end I discovered I had to install Chrome to activate it. Once activated it's OK with any browser. It's time the browsers all just worked!!
