Australian Trivia Only

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Dot, did I spell something wrong? If I did, I find it almost improbable that Ray or George didn't pick it up.
Is the word replacement assistance tool switched on, or ????

Back to the actual question. The Ballarat Volunteer Rifles are now called the 8th/7th Royal Victorian Regiment and are in turn part of 5th Royal Australian Regiment. There are some interesting looking books about the evolution of this mob that I will have to look out for in the old book stores.

And the answer to the other question, just in case you needed to know.
The ampere, often shortened to "amp", is the base unit of electric current in the International System of Units. It is named after André-Marie Ampère, French mathematician and physicist, considered the father of electromagnetism

Let's see how this goes. A famous Australian jockey was born in Koondrook Vic in 1938. He went on to win a few Melbourne Cups and a lot of other big races.
What was his name?
