Australian Trivia Only

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Bernie, Is it a copper mine in the Flinders Ranges SA. I remember something about the Cornish Copper miners cutting down all the trees around the district for the boilers, and then the (now wild) goats denuded everything. I think they told us that story whilst travelling through that area on the Ghan a few years ago. Don't know the name of the mine though.
Cheers

Saw that one a couple of years ago too, not much left of it though.

The one at Burra I found really interesting, again Cornish miners.
The Cornish Beam engine especially interested me.
250Hp from the single cylinder used to pump the water from the bottom of the mine.

This is a model of the engine that's now inside the restored engine house.

Great to hear the bridge has been restored and open for use. That was the spot I was thinking of but I remember the bridge being closed off so a rather dangerous walk along the side of the road to get to the village.
