Re: Australian Trivia Only
I'll be back with a question soon. But I must say that Booligal isn't that bad of a place. We had a great fun country family day at the Booligal Sheep races a few Easter Sundays ago. They came from near and far to have a laugh and make some money for a good cause.
Cheers

You gotta pick up your pushbike to turn it around.

Re: Australian Trivia Only
It might be any one of those , but none of those are what I had in mind. Henry Lawson was close, but only from a currency point of view.

Re: Australian Trivia Only
Ah! I think that’s a clue!
It appears on the $10 note.

Re: Australian Trivia Only
A clue it was! I was trying to be cryptic but I'm not very good at that. I am yet to visit there but I believe that a lot of the old township is very much the same as it was 1`00 or so years ago. Some of the buildings on the Henry Lawson side of the old paper $10 note are supposed to be downtown Gulgong.

Re: Australian Trivia Only
Here's one to test your Googleability:
Lt James Cook sailed the oceans blue and eventually crashed into the Great South Land (Australia. He managed to avoid hitting NZ when sailing around it ) at the place now called Cooktown.
His ship was the Endeavour, as every Australian school pupil knows.
However, the ship was already four years old when purchased by the Admiralty for £2,800, converted to Barque (or Bark, if you're a Yank ) rigging and re-named.
What was its former name?
Bonus point if you can name the style of the original rigging...
(In a fit of magnanimity, I'll accept either the specific name or the generic.)

Re: Australian Trivia Only
From memory she was either the Duke of Pembroke or the Earl of Pembroke and I am not too sure of the correct name for her rig but she was fully rigged with 3 masts and square sails.
