OED says a mammal is a “warm-blooded vertebrate distinguished by the possession of hair or fur.”
Feathers don’t cut it.

OED says a mammal "usually" suckles its young. Also cautiously says "predominantly" gives birth to live young... obviously keeping Australia in mind. ;)
But the distinguishing features of all mammals are warm blood and hair or fur.

The original question was ..... What Australian Animal lays eggs? Where did mammal come into it?...I must be missing something,maybe getting to old :o and senile.....................................Peter :lol: :D :D
