Avian Visitors

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Is that what you get when you cross a Kookaburra with an Owl? A Kookaburra with an Einstein hair do? great photo Cuppa

Maggie is at it again.
Stealing coconut fibre from our pansy planter to build her nest for the year...
We put out some loose coconut fibre for her, but no, it has to be pulled out of the planter.

I walked into the house leaving the screen door to the deck open when I came back to the room, two lorikeets had flown in & were having a lovely time eating an apple that was on the bench above my sink, not the first time that I have had birds come in but none have been that cheeky 🤣🤣 we stopped feeding the kookaburras for that reason if the door was open they would fly in & land on the bench, giving you a real fright.😀
The native Mynas pull the stuffing out of our deck chair cushions if we leave them unattended, actually pecked holes to pull the stuffing out.
Ducks come to eat any clover that grows in the lawn, they look cute when they arrive with their ducklings but poop everywhere, a real pain when you have 4 g'sons running around, sprayed all the clover today.

Friday I had some outdoor plumbing to install (watering system in a garden bed).
For the whole hour, I had our resident baby kookaburra sitting on the grass about 10ft from me, watching what I was doing.
When I stood up, and asked "Does this meet with your approval?" said kooka walked over & inspected the piping before flying off!
I took that as a "Yes." :D

While out in the garden, we discovered that our Cocky Vandals have been back. This year, they ignored the Irises.
Instead, they attacked the bed of 30-odd Daffodils. Nipped off nearly all of the budding flower heads! Didn't eat them, just left them on the ground, and chewed some plants down to ground level.
I'd be tempted to try Cockatoo Stew, except for the Traditional Swaggie's Recipe notes.

Today, after the rain overnight, we have a flock of about 8~9 Noisy Mynahs sitting in one of our large Eucalypts, living up to their name...

Ray, if you are going to make cocktail stew, make sure the stone is clean.
Just before sunrise this morning I heard a storm bird calling. First one for the season. If I am lucky i will see him in a couple of days.
Cheers

For the past week or two we’ve had a flock of galahs visiting.
They hold a union meeting every evening on the golf course...

Yes.
The one at left rear, with a bigger crest than the others, and a louder voice. 😁
