Amazing Discovery!!

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Amazing Discovery!!

Post by Greynomad »

I have just discovered that laptops and red wine are incompatible.
Spilling a glass of the latter on the keyboard of the former results in a severe inaction on the part of the former. 😩🙄

What a waste!! ;)
If you tilt the laptop slowly over a soup plate you might recover some but it may have a slight plastic taste to it!! :o
Watch out down that way as there are a few wine thieves living down Nelson way!

We get a few in where I volunteer that have tried to share a red, or white ,with their facebook friends.

Believe me it's not a successful operation because the keyboard gets all sticky and refuses to work.
I believe it's the alcohol disturbing the almost tranquil life of a keyboard and it develops a massive hangover and becomes one of the unemployable types ( put in your own words here )

Only recourse is to strip down the computer and replace the keyboard.

Pity your not in Mandurah ;) Depending on parts and make it's only about a $20 job.

Ron,
Thanks for the info, but it would probably be cheaper to replace the ‘pooter than drive to WA for a replacement keyboard . 🙄😃

A can of COKE has a similar effect, ex wife tried it as one of those revenge for not keeling over and dieing things when she left. Simply binned it grabbed another out of the cupboard. One of the great things about desk top computers that was the only choice back then, might be a tad more destructive to a laptop or tablet ......

Although it is only 9YO, Apple lists our MacBook Pro as “obsolete”! 😳😢
For about a year we have been planning to replace it. Other expenses just kept getting in the way.
Now that our hand has been forced, we will replace the deceased laptop with an iPad Pro, with keyboard built into the cover. THAT keyboard is waterproof! (And wine-proof! 😎)

After much chat with an Apple tech bloque, I discovered that all my laptop data could not be transferred to an iPad running iOS...
So we have purchased another (but newer) MacBook Pro on 'ThatLetterBetweenD&F'-Bay.
Arrived home from our 2 week sojourn into SA to find the new one had been delivered half an hour before our arrival!
After much unpacking of m/h stuff, I have managed steal enough time to install Firefox & Open Office (free software which they say will open MS Office docs)... yet to be tested... :?
After lunch, I'm heading to the Apple dealer in Wangaratta (45km) to see if they can salvage my data from the drowned hard drive............................
