Happy Straya Day!

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Heard one “Change the date” protester say on the news that we shouldn’t be celebrating the day Captain Cook ‘invaded’ Australia...
We don’t.
Australia Day celebrates the day the First Fleet arrived in Botany Bay. That was some ELEVEN YEARS after LIEUTENANT Cook located and charted the East Coast. (Or 12, depending if you count from the start or end of Cook’s visit. And Cook wasn’t promoted to Captain until he sailed the Resolution to Canada to look for the North West Passage, about 10 years later.)
The fleet of 11 ships carried 750-odd prisoners and their guards, along with a troop or two of Marines.
Initial relations with the aboriginal population were quite cordial. It was the colonists’ penchant for fencing in parts of the natives’ hunting grounds which caused problems.

Why would anyone ever let fact get in the way of a good story though.  If they aren't protesting this, they will be protesting that! Whatever that turns out to be!

Unfortunately "invasion Day "never Happened
Due to the Mabo Decision Australia was Never invaded but settled
so do we go back pre Mabo and apologise for the "Invasion " or accept the fact that there was never an invasion but "settlement"
If we were invaded The Mabo Decision would never have happened

So get over the "Political Points" and accept the reality of it all

Personally I don't give a dam, it's past time to let this PC stuff stop and put those efforts into things like Animal protection, Aged care facilities, public hospitals, Dr's in small towns, justice system that hands out the correct sentences, parole for sex offenders, etc etc etc. (end of rant)
