Clever Card

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Clever Card

Post by Greynomad »

It may just be my career history (Journalist/Sub-Editor), and the rest of you may find this stupefyingly boring, but I think this is clever.
It's the business card for a freelance journalist/copywriter.

Nearly, Bruce,

"GLENELG" is a palindrome: spells the same forwards & backwards...

Like, "Able was I ere I saw Elba"
(attributed to Napoleon when he was exiled to the island of Elba, but probably apocryphal) :P

The attribution to Napoleon could only be true if he wrote it in English. Being an Italian born French Statesman who hated the British, what are the chances he would have written such a piece in English?

My thoughts exactly, T1!

Unlikely that he would have even spoken English (even if he knew the language), hence my statement of doubt.

:? I also doubt that, upon seeing Eve, Adam would have said (in English), "Madam, I'm Adam."
Another palindrome... inventing such word games was a popular pastime in Victorian England. Like having children was. ;)
Obviously one did not affect or relate to the other. Just sayin'...
Queen Vicki had eleven! (children, not palindromes  )

Ever watched toddler kids who haven't mastered a language except their own gobbldy-goop? In no time at all two or more can develop a level of understanding between each other than no adult can follow, yet once they master the language their parents speak, they can no longer interpret what another toddler is saying, just make educated guesses the same as an adult.
They say babies can be seen dreaming while still in the womb, but what are they dreaming about if they have not yet experienced life outside the womb? Are they also born with a universal language? Was this how the early tribes communicated before they developed their own tribal language?
