Weekend before last I OD'd on Car Porn...
The Jaguar Club of Australia held its 50th annual Show 'n' Shine in Albury.

Had a chance to by a E type for 2 thousand quid...twas a few years back........still kick myself when I think of it...

Unless you have the service records going back to brand new and there is a record of the head studs being removed regularly for inspection, you were lucky it got away. The job to replace sheared off studs is mind blowing, liners out etc. the studs pass through the coolant and erode away weakening them and allowing the coolant to seep up the stud between the aluminium head and the steel stud. The head then welds itself to the studs so you can't get the head off.
I did one in my early days of being a mechanic, that was enough, never again.

Makes my Renault Dauphine with a leaky radiator (which was between rear engine & back seat) sound positively easy to fix!
