Here's another one.....

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

If you want the precious little darlings to walk to school and walk home, then take the 4WD taxi off mum and tell her to walk them to school and home if she is so worried about what might happen to them ..... but you aren't game ... lotta talk but very little real world action.
You think they spend too much time playing electronic games, tried going out and playing ball games or fishing or flying a kite with them, you've got plenty of time now you aren't working any more.
If climate change isn't real, turn off your air con and tell us it's just like it was when you were a kid, yeah right.
Why didn't they turn the air con off at the climate summit meeting so those precious pollies who are getting the back handers can tell the world there isn't a problem.
The selfish generation is the real problem, who are they you ask, look in the mirror. You all want the good life and you say you want better for your kids and grandkids .... really, did you do that turn the air con off and read a book thing you suggest the kids do? How did that go? If you had no problems then why did you get the air con installed in the first place? If you can go without the luxuries, then why not go solar and battery and live off grid like a lot of the pioneers did? Let's face it, if you weren't sitting on your butt reading insightful crap on Farce Book on your electronic device you wouldn't be here posting on another site on your electronic device. You really want to cart ice for the ice box, listen to the radio shows because there's no TV, walk to the shop every second day because food doesn't keep for long just on ice. But then the local shopping centre won't have freezers either, so you better start bottling your preserves just like they did in "the good old days" Did you split some wood for the fuel stove and sit down with a warm beer because there isn't enough room in the ice box for beer in bottles, no cans because they need that electrickery stuff to make that that ....
Hmmm... did I hit a soft spot?

Did anyone actually read the link I set up ? It is by an original Greenpeace founder who ended up boss, the only scientifically trained member of the board. That alone I think qualifies it as deserving of attention. He left that organisation when they decided to ban Chlorine, which has allowed safer drinking water for billions.
It is a reasoned, scientifically backed argument that if we did not arrest falling CO2 levels all life on this planet would become extinct, where do we see this in any of the kid's arguments ?
Seems many have made up their mind and are not capable of looking at anything else ?

Not all life on earth Bill, just the greedy life forms. The others will suffer for hundreds if not thousands of yrs, but the warmer climate and increased co2 will help the plants recover. The burning down of forests will stop because the less greedy life forms can't start fire. The few of the smarter higher life forms will adapt, live in caves or underground so the heat doesn't get them. They will adapt solar stile technology so they have water to drink and water crops they can sustain a small population with but I doubt being far less reliant on red meat will be simply a life choice, more a choice is you want to live. There will probably still be roos, rabbits and anything else that can survive without regular drenching etc and can survive in very hot conditions with very little vegetation to eat for long parts of the yr.
Fish will return, but it will take a while, the acid levels in the ocean will have to stop rising and start falling for a while. That huge slime carpet that is growing at a phenomenal rate in parts of the sea floor will probably wreck a lot of fish spawning areas until the carbon dioxide levels drop and it dies off again, then the pollution from that will have to settle, but time is great at that sorting out thing.
Humans have a choice of either stopping pumping carbon into the atmosphere or it will be stopped for them by killing them off. It has been hotter on the planet before, but humans didn't exist then and they won't if gets that hot again, nature is kinda funny like that.

What the selfish generation has to fear more than climate change, is the kids they stole the comfy life style from so they could have more of it for themselves. If they decide the selfish generation isn't paying any real attention rather than just lip service, the life style you expect them to provide when you get older might not be there. Just hope they don't decide to get even and extinguish the greedy generation as pay back for the struggle they will face ....... what nursing home you end up in might not be your biggest concern, learning to survive in hiding in your old age might be more of a concern for those that choice to live.
Best start listening to the kids, they will be the ones carrying the guns soon, best not to be marked as the enemy

T1, I think you have been talking too much to Greta, there is an alternative, credible, scientific view that demands attention, as is stated in that article, climate "institutions" have no reason to be if they found there was no case ! So the greedy buggers make one.

The kids are simply believing the crap that is poured down their throats, I think what pisses off most people reading this debate is that they have not done their own investigation to find if there is a credible other argument.

I have not spoken to a kid who has done this, when you carefully show them that there is another side to any argument, they shut down because it does not suit their "cause." So it is not possible to have a rational discussion.

I am not a climate change "denier," man's industrialisation may well eventually contribute to climate change on this planet, but I am not convinced by news reports that say "biggest storm to ever hit America" only to find the truth is "yes biggest storm, but only since 1970.

Instead of alarmist reports of acid and people living in caves in the next 10 years, both sides of the argument should be examined, otherwise ALL life would become extinct when CO2 levels fall below 150 ppm. And that is the slippery slope we were on.

 But really, you just have to look at the Hong Kong problems to see who will really have the power. Short term they could just do a Tiananmen Square job on them, but the backlash could be devastating internally, not just world wide condemnation. China already has a bigger internal army than the one we see paraded to show military strength. It wouldn't take much to flip the tables and send China into a massive internal war and implosion. You can't keep the people happy with jobs and money and a better life style if you are murdering their kids and the future well trained and educated workforce. China's workforce is aging faster than ours as a result of the one child policy. They tried to reverse that but those who now have a bit of money but no crop they need the kids to work, they just don't want to spend their hard earned money raising a kid and they certainly won't if they think the govt could just kill them anyway.

A lot of the young people are getting angry because they are being ignored. Many wars have been fort over smaller issues than the destruction of the environment and you would want to have a very convincing argument ready for the angry young person aiming the gun at you that they have got it wrong and the world really isn't heading into a point of no return.
Better to show you are part of the solution rather than part of the problem, that requires a very different mindset than those shown at the beginning of this thread.

Sorry but this has been flipped to some totally different argument ? T1 your socialist views are very well known, while you run a business that does ok in a capitalist system. Nothing to do with some internal dissent in another country as far as I can see (climate debate).

Again, if someone whose credentials are absolutely without question casts doubt on the climate change industry, they do not suit the argument, so are totally ignored. It means that people are unable to make up their own minds, because they don't have the info. Pretty much what I see from the school kids today.

And by the way the address destroys the temperature/CO2 correlation, but I guess no one has read far enough to see this ?

Folks, There will always be two sides to every story. And sometimes both have their good and bad points. And even more sometimes the other blokes argument may have some merit. But only if you take all the emotion away. In this free and democratic society that we live in, we are all still entitled to an opinion. Even when the other bloke is wrong.
Please don't turn this forum into a political joke, just as most of us saw happening elsewhere a few years ago.
No GOBS and no BOBS please.

David,
My argument totally. I think a read over my posts has simply been that there is another side and I would like ALL to peruse both sides, including the kids, to make an informed decision, rather than being swept up in the common hysteria that we are all screwed.

I don't see this as any fighting between the good ol boys or whatever name you want to give them, I would rather people look at both sides and make up their own mind. Is this too much to ask ?
