Lake Elphinstone Qld

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Lake Elphinstone Qld

Post by wayneP »

As a few forum folk have been here, I thought I would post a few pics of this past meeting spot. As I travel between Moranbah (Eureka Village via Redhill road past this lake every few weeks or so you can see the effect the drought has had on this lake!
These were taken on Saturday a few days from Xmas. This place is normally well occupied by now.

Hell the lake sure is low but have never seen much grass there at the best of times.

Certainly looks different to when we were there in 2016 and 2017.

Even worse now is that Glenden 20 mins away, were the campers went for supplies. More shops and the only pub (alcohol) supply have closed, chemist limited hrs when open. Moranbah 1hr away via Redhill Road(rough as guts) or Nebo 40 min away.
Desperately needs a good wash out. Was not a lot of visitors several months back as previous years because of the state of the water.

Hmmm

Looks like it could do with a few more campers...

Pity about the surrounding towns.

Maybe they should become RV Friendly???

Worked wonders for Ouyen in Vic... and many other towns, I'm sure.

Should send a few hundred of these big wake boats up there for a week to zoom around and aerate the green cheese.

Poor Lake Elphinstone, looks like one of the mud flats on the coast. No birds at all. A few vans and a couple of Bus motorhomes that are parked as not to look at the mud.
