Lance it was the ATO that G rang today but should have some more idea of what's going on tomorrow after he sees the local tax person.

Any pay slips, invoices etc relating to a business or company can legally be discarded, burnt or whatever after seven years.

Well all fixed up. G went to the local tax type person this morning, she rang the ATO and it turns out the ATO got it all wrong. Might suggest to them that their staff know what the hell they are on about before they start scaring the crap out of people, I feel a complaint coming up.Seeing as G is doing some outside bus work I shall wait until he comes inside and I will be sure to get it right.

Great news Dot, now all you have to look forward to is centrelink demanding repayment of your pension, because they think you may have been over paid. That probably goes for a few pensioners.

Here is the report... Firstly the ATO man (Yesterday) told G the wrong amount that required G to put in a tax return i.e he said the amount was $18,200.00 and the accountant said it is $30,000.00. Because G was on a pension the & tax threshold was NOT breached even with any interest earned so there was NO need for G to lodge any tax forms. It boils down to not letting your yearly income with C/link and any other income not go over the total of $30k.

George yesterday when G was speaking to the Tax man he said that the ATO can still ask/demand $$ if they deem you owing it no matter how much time has gone by, but then again he did give the wrong info yesterday, might be something to look into..
