Putting photos up on the site that are “too big”

One question at a time please & once the person asking the question is happy with the answer they'll say "next question please" & anyone can chime in with the next question. (fun, fun, fun!)

Putting photos up on the site that are “too big”

Post by Mickconnolly »

Hi
Have not been able to put photos up yet as they “exceed the size limit” or something like that. Anyone know how to get around this?

Mick, There are a few ways that you can do this.
You can email them to yourself which automatically resizes them , or you could use a resizing program. Some of us use Irfanview which is a free download. The trick is to save them so that the longest side is less than 1000 pixels. Others will comment when they find this post. There are more than one way to skin a cat, so to speak. :D

Yep, what he said!

Some of the Apple products appear to reduce the size in pixels but not in kb's.
Open & close the same pic in IrfanView seems to do it!

I have Faststone image viewer which as works at times but MH suggested one which I downloaded but cannot find on computer. Told me download complete etc and have been through all possible places it might be hiding but nothing. I saved it to downloads but not there. This is the reason I do not post too many photos the past coule of trips. Same situation on the other forum which uses this "set up". it is damn annoying but life was not meant to be easy Mick

How do you mean Bruce? When using my Faststone I bring them down to about 30%. Have tried pixels but never get down small enough so stick with the %

This is the resizer that I use https://www.digitalred.com/support/wind ... -resizing/

When a photo is resized it leaves the original as was and gives a resized photo as requested. It allows basic or advanced resizing.

Kay doesn't hang around long enough for us to help her!
I'm not sure if she is trying to do it with a smart phone? (i-something?)
