Bob,
The apostrophe is not needed... you’ve used the plural of ‘book’.
Now, if you had said “I did it by the book, so it’s the book’s fault.” both apostrophes would be correct: “it’s” is a contraction of “it is”, and “book’s” is the possessive.
However, if you had said “... so the book’s wrong” you are then using another contraction: “book is”. Again, the apostrophe is correct but for a different reason.

Bell has rung. Class dismissed. 😁
(Or if you like, “Bell’s rung.”)

Isn’t the English language fascinating? 😊
On the other hand, assuming you had 1 bell in the first hand and 2 bells in the second hand when you rang them all, it would be "Bell's rung" and "Bells rang". Does that ring true, Ray?

Do you think that, just maybe, we are heading down that path of need to have a travel diary soon. There are a lot of motorhomes now with national heavy rego plates. I even saw an F350 and van combo in Tassie where the tug had nat heavy plates.
At Yelgun rest area, just south of the QLD border you will get booked if you park anything but a truck in the truck bays. Mind you, things have gone a little quiet on that since Covid19 created the need to close the border.

All new and replacement plates for vehicles over 4.5 t are now issued as heavy plates. Apparently, it is very important to fine a 4.6 t vehicle going down the Adelaide hills at 65 kph. Of course, the unintended consequence will be to cause mayhem amongst the 90 kph traffic in the two right lanes or, otherwise, grossly overload the amount of relatively light vehicles darting in and out of the left land used principally by Heavy Vehicles.

Brucie2 wrote: Wed May 27, 2020 1:07 pm Steve most heavy trucks end up North of the city around Wingfield or Port Adelaide so I could never understand why put in emergency arrester bays when they could turn all lights green & let the truckies throw the vehicle outta gear & hangon for dear life!!!
I wonder what speed would be the end result?
T1 will probably suggest they could have 16 generators activated to charge up 1000Ahr LiFePO4 battery bank!!! ;) 8-)
Very expensive camera just outside the tunnel, that is roughly the spot where the Prius traction battery reaches the upper limit and the regen cuts out. I reckon it won't be long before hybrid upgrades appear and as an option on new trucks, better to store that unwanted energy ready for reuse when ever needed rather than changing it into heat energy in the brakes and/or waste compression energy via the Jake Brake. I'd think a 100kW plus boost on a long hill climb would be appreciated in a B double or triple, especially if it was at zero fuel cost.
Retarders were popular on the coal trucks for a while to save the engine and brakes on that long down hill run from top to bottom of Mt Ousley into the Wollongong bypass freeway. Regen braking is much the same but variable as required and the bonus of storing that energy ready for take off from the lights or as a hill assist.
