Don't plant trees near adjoining property fence
After frequent requests the Liquidamber which was just 500mm from the fenceline on the neighbour's side has been removed. The last five days have involved the dismantling of our side retaining wall which was being pushed over by the roots of said tree. I am now completely stuffed and covered in scratches, scrapes and bruises. Photos below show the roots which had caused the damage.

Re: Don't plant trees near adjoining property fence
Should get some of them Greenies onto you George!!!
I had a similar battle as that with my previous neighbors in Kingston.
One tree they didn't want to fall on to their house they tied to one of the fence posts.
Axe fixed that once the fence got too far off vertical. Wasn't long before they removed the tree THEN!!
Bottle brush also likes to follow along drainage pipes. Grrr

Re: Don't plant trees near adjoining property fence
Our neighbour had the very bad habit of planting big gum trees about 6 inches from the fence so after G had a talk to her and she did O I dug down to the roots on our side of the fence, drilled a couple of holes in the root then gave it a lovely drink of neat roundup. Problem solved. But the ground cover still invades our place and that also gets a spray when it's ugly leaf gets inside the boundary. The leaves from one of their big gum trees clog our gutters so when G clears them they are returned back to the owners.
Queen of the Banal & OT chatter and proud of it. If it offends you then tough titty titty bang bang.

So that's why our neighbours got shirty when I planted a Tasmanian Bluegum a metre from their fence in the 70s!
It only grew to 60ft in five years... what's the problem?

The neighbors two gums planted next to our north boundary in our current home. Constantly cleaning up leaves and bark. One of the reasons we are wanting to move to the other property.

Re: Don't plant trees near adjoining property fence
Apparently, if you dig down a bit before you drill the holes and pour in the Roundup or similar product, it is really difficult for people to establish the cause of the offending trees demise. Or so I am told.
George, did those tree roots have anything to do with the cause of your recent water leak?
