Happy Birthday Ray, do you think a trip to Warrabilla to sample the range of Durif available and possibly working your way back home comparison testing could be a good way to spend a birthday? Why wait for a birthday I say

Thankyou everybody. I am now officially ancient! :D (And all my teeth are OEM!)
T1, what a great idea!! I shall start immediately!
First stop: our 'Corner Shop'Rutherglen Estates, 50m down the road. Chambers' Rosewood is 100m across a paddock...
As Warrabilla is 20km away, it might take a while to get there... perhaps tomorrow. There are lots of stop-offs in between!
Regards & God bless,

On the subject of wine-tasting:
Last year, when we celebrated my Big-Birthday-With-A-Zero, we topped off the Ghan trip with 3 days in the Barossa Valley.
We stopped at a very small boutique winery, and on the counter -- AVAILABLE FOR TASTING  -- the owner had a bottle of 20 Y.O. PORT!!
Naturally, I had a taste... Nectar of the Gods!
So I bought two bottles... naturally.
Problem: We'd flown to Adelaide. We were already right on the limit with carry-on bags, and our one suitcase was already stuffed to the gills.
"No Prob!" says owner, "we'll mail it to you for an extra $15. Write your name and address on this form and we'll dispatch it today."
So I did. When he read the address, he did a double-take.
"I'm sending PORT to RUTHERGLEN?!?!? Sir, I couldn't possibly charge you postage on that!"
And he didn't. :D
Regards & God bless,
Ray
