Re: Trump hits solar panels with tariffs
If it happens, be prepared for a glut and cheap panels here;
if and when the US tool up, then the Chinese panels will increase in price as the profit from being able to match the high US cost.
The losers are be the US public and possibly the rest of us.

Re: Trump hits solar panels with tariffs
By the time the US companies can make the panels to the quality of the current Chinese teir1 panels the Chinese will already be way ahead of them so no one would want to buy them other than patriotic yanks. All Trump will do is make it much more expensive for the locals to go solar and this is the more likely reason for his import tariffs, looking after the electricity generators and try to build demand for coal fired power station, that way he can be seen to be doing something about the coal miners getting there jobs back.
If it isn't about Trump $$ and Trump praise then it won't happen, if there is an out cry about Trump making things more expensive for US citizens by forcing up power prices the whole idea will be canned to protect Trump's ego

Re: Trump hits solar panels with tariffs
The devil is in the detail, the solar/battery system is linked to the grid making each house a mini power plant. The catch is you won't be paid for the grid feed in and you will be responsible for the insurance and maintenance of the system, yet you will still have a connected to the grid charge each quarter and a supply charge for what ever you buy back off the grid. Also, you would have no control over when and just how much the grid pulls stored energy out of your battery pack.

Re: Trump hits solar panels with tariffs
Like all brain dead ideologues, Trump says one thing when the facts are the opposite. Read today where imports from china had almost doubled since Trump has been in office.
What the4y are ding is SA, is just another form of profit growth and will end up costing those that take up the offer much more than if they had their own systems. The supposed discount is fixed in a contract, which it seems will be for one year only and then, they will be paying close to the same as they are now.
