Some celebrities visited Vietnam to entertain the troops.
Bert Newton's future wife (Patti Newton) was just one of them.

Re: Vietnam memories
Was it Pattie Newton or little Pattie that went over to entertain the troops? Two different people, I met little Pattie at one of the "Stone the Crows" Anzac day services .... even though I was too young to go to Vietnam (but it was a close run thing) the whole re-telling of the events leading up to the performance and immediately after regarding the performance ending early so they could get them out because the fighting had started, really affected me even though I wasn't involved in the war as such ..... but you could see it in the faces of some of the gathered crowd that were there at that particular time ... it was like it was happening all over again for them .....BruceS wrote: ↑Sun Aug 06, 2023 2:19 pm Some celebrities visited Vietnam to entertain the troops.

Re: Vietnam memories
My fondest memory of the Vietnam war was being a loser when my birthday came up in the Nasho Lottery.
Fond because I failed the medical and didn't go.
One of my workmates did go… and came back a shattered young man. I feel for all those young blokes who suffered PTSD afterward — and still do.
