Hands up all you motorhomes/caravans/ tenters [is that a word?] That grow their own vegies. Being that most of us still have a home.
We do and have done so since the first home we bought in 1970. I was just thinking about this as I just raided the 'patch' not a lot in at the moment we are in drought here,
but I can still afford some water for our vegies.
I'm not a normal grower (Carol cant see this suppin about being normal) I don't sow in rows just a hand full of different seeds all chucked in as I go, and it works for me.
I have tomatoes, chillies, radish, apple cucumbers, spinach,silverbeet,chives,pastly basil and a few more that at this time haven't poked their heads up. All together no rows, the tomatoes don't even have sticks to attaché them to I don't care if they lay over [I don't think their care neither].
When we were still on the farm most of the food on the table we grew, and on a cuppla occasions everything on the table was from the farm including the roast beef/chook/lamb even the butter that Carol used to make. And wait for it....I made the beer.
So what are you lot out doing ? and I'm not excluding the on road permanents' I have seen a few with vegie patch's in those styrene box's. We had some visitors here a while back and they had tomatoes growing in box's

Got a brother who likes to plant like you Bernie, his other half likes it all tidy, plus non productive things like flowers.
Never really got into it, and now we are full time, we are not anywhere long enough. Hard to beat the home grown taste

I have no luck with growing vegs, not even a pumpkin can make it here. Wish I could.

The possums eat everything that we try to grow, they even pick the green passionfruits & drop them on the ground.

Just love my garden, after years of battling rabbits birds, I now have a fully enclosed garden, FANTASTIC

I don't mind a bit of under ground mutton [rabbits]
I see you have eggs as well, we don't have chooks any more but two doors up has and we buy our eggs from him.
I have never grown water melons, but then again they are cheap as up here.
Have given away plenty of Pumpkin, tho none growing at present.

Well before this last trip up to the boat we had carrots just up, maize (sweetcorn?) and a couple of tomato plants in the usual spot next to the drive.
Battery operated tap timer set to go off every second day for 20 mins at 12PM that waters through 1/2" poly pipe with drippers/sprayers in it.
I wonder how they are going? Sleepy lizard was waiting for the annual feed of tomatoes!!
I suggested a tomato plant for the top deck but Wendy still can't get up there yet!!!
That water lift is looking good Bernie!
A few days ago I saw an electric lift in Bunnings........... wonder if they'd miss it?

Its not as if your short of water Bruce [for the lift that is].
Once you get Wendy up there you have all that organic bat poo...opps sorry pigeon poo to grow vegies.
Now your worried about the patch at home what about the gold fish or his he/she on hols with you?
Don't forget which way to put the pillow tonite (that will keep them guessing)
