I'd love to put that on the houseboat Bruce!!!
Unfortunately I've been told the blinds come first!
Guess I need the exercise going up stairs to fiddle the direction? lol
Does the auto bit only work once when you tell it to or does it continuously search & find in real time?
If I'm tied to the willow trees on a windy day would it keep correcting itself?
I've heard they have a "live" one on the Indian Pacific train that never loses the satellite?

the they couldn't afford to buy the auto tracker satellite dish.BruceV wrote:time for new glasses?
How heavy is the dish and mechanism? Could I use it as a portable with a suitable base? No room on the roof, wall to wall tropical roof made out of solar panels.

Re: Automatic Satellite Dish - Sydney
BruceS, I do not know as I only ever used the dish when stationary. I know when parked under trees when the dish could only get a partial signal it would pause and then resume a full sweep.
T1, the dish and gearbox weighs around 15 kgs. Like you I had a roof full of solar panels and so mounted it on a plinth (as per the photo) which I attached to roof racks on the car which I towed. It was not very practical. I would not want to lug it around. With the plinth it probably weighs closer to 20kg and the combination of weight and bulk make it quite unwieldy. Ideally it could be managed with 2 people.
