There is an alternative.... there always is eh The part that is too big is the condenser, replace the air to air condenser with a water cooled condenser, then plumb that water via the hot water tank through a heat exchanger coil and on to the radiator for cooling, then back through again. This way the waste heat from the air con is used to heat your hot water, the outside unit is much smaller and an electric fan can be added to the radiator if needed, but there is a lot of water in a bus engine cooling system to heat before the fan was needed.

Dot, I have the same problem mounting the condenser unit for a split, do you want the split for the entire bus or just the bedroom? I was looking at one of these for our bedroom but SWMBO won't part with any space under the bed and that's the only place I can fit it

6150 btu is only half the required size. You would also have to consider that cold air does not rise, so this would not be an ideal solution.

Good system has been used before in specialised vehicles. Would work very well for a normal fridge too.
One minor issue would be that the engine and radiator will warm up considerably throughout the day. IF your rig is uncomfortable for sleeping with a hot engine -well, you could always leave on the A/C!!
