Nightly Goodnight Everyone

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

After 14 weeks on the road and around 11500 kms, we are spending our last night at the Cooyar Swinging Bridge camp. Probably our last night with this rig. Around 230 kms to home tomorrow. Feeling a bit sad.[emoji17]

Still quiet in Dysart. Hope your pussy is being good Miss Dot xxxx

Leslie, sounds like you are about to change your holiday home. End of an era, but the start of something new? What are you looking at?

We did the last minute visits to chiro and extra groceries. Then I packed the groceries into the van and topped up all the condiments (esp tea and coffee) just enough so that we can have a few cups before we need to shop again. So the van is almost packed and ready for a Sunday lift off.

goodnight one and all xxx
Deborah

Deborah, we’ve decided to change to a motorhome. Not sure whether we will tow a small car or not. Have to get the current rig all sparkly and sold first.

WoW! Way to go Erich & Lesley!!
I wish you well in your chosen vehicle.
Talk to as many as you can I suggest as it seems like there are a few you might wish to steer clear of.
Although they may ride a little rougher I like the Isuzu based ones simply because of the good spread of dealers & even the ability of just about any truck dealership to work on them.
Some of the brands from Europe look like a closed shop arrangement?
I remember the times Lorraine had to have hers trucked many miles to get the gearbox 'unlocked'?
Tell us what you are looking at Lesley? New or SH? Under the 4.5t limit?

Maybe I should make a new thread about it Bruce. It’s fairly up in the air at the moment as to new or second hand. Finding a second hand one that suits looks difficult. Iveco or Merc Sprinter base seems a definite and car license as we don’t want to have to upgrade at our ages. Regardless, it will require us to readjust our mode of travelling which will not be easy.

Fingers frozen together yet Dot? xxxx

Lesley, that's a huge step. Hope you find exactly what you are after.

Today the van packing was finalised, with just a few more things to go into the fridge and we will be off in the morning.

This is exhausting work, so nighty night all and sundry xxx

"tanks" here---
It is a sorry day at the DYSART BUNKER today, because my very welcome visitors are leaving to continue their trip back to S.A., and the cold days down South.
Mr.Major will miss their company and the walkies he had while they were here at the Bunker. I will miss their company and the help and assistance that Dot & George gave me doing garden chores that I have not been able to start or complete. I MISS THEM ALREADY.
Keith.

Coincidence Lesley

Post by Chuck »

They do say that similar thinking is possibly a coincidence Lesley, & in this case it is correct.

Since our last trip with the 200 series & van - about 3 years now we have felt that something is missing in our lives & yes, we did realise it was the lack of travel mode.

However, after making the current trip up to the Atherton Tablelands in FNQ in our beaut VW Tiguan stopping overnight in either motels or cabins in van parks it's a long way from being independent... so:

We also are considering going back to the MH concept with the Mercedes Sprinter style of vehicle. At this stage it is simply an idea that will need more research & thought, but Trina is definitely not keen on towing a toad.

Time will tell.

Good luck with your impending sale & the upcoming search.

Good luck with the decision making Chuck and Trina. We are also not keen on towing a car so will probably go without unless we really find ourselves restricted.

We have always travelled in our Coaster without towing a car, one just needs to be sure to shop for everything before camping & if the need arises it doesn't take long to pack up & drive somewhere.
We did need to do that at the Boulia camel races when we needed to empty our cassette, helps to carry a sign," site occupied", we just left our table & chairs as we were camped with friends.
We were with Lorraine when her gear box locked up, a few kms south of Wooroolin, all the way to Toowoomba, Qld on a low loader, lucky it was still under warranty, all fixed in a couple of days.
Shirley & Bruce.
