On the other hand, now, quite a lot of the younger generation miss the moment because they are too busy trying to catch the moment on their bloody phone.

I even have trouble using the oldies dumb phone. (no comments from the peanut gallery either)

The way you are going, Dot, you're going to need a dumb phone! If you hadn't mentioned the peanut gallery I wouldn't have thought to think up a dumb joke.

Smart phones take so much concentration to get the right video they have to wait till they play it back to actually have any idea of the required emotional response during the presentation. Maybe a poll to see who was the best smart phone video maker, get them to record the whole thing and mass mail it out to everyone that attended so they could catch the actual presentation and review it at their leisure.
Sadly, many that attend these presentations these days do not understand the facial feed back required for the presenter to give their best performance. At one of the talks I gave at the last STC, one lady went to sleep and a few definitely had the rolling back eyes look, I was about to change my methods when I saw a lot more people wide eyed and mentally forming questions for later. The response for the tree days after the talk suggested I'd done ok, I would not have had that feed back if I was looking at an audience of smart phones and not faces.
I haven't read the attached article yet so no idea if they said the same thing
