Council application fees

Just received my application fee to build a $9,000 shed. $492.28.
Talking to a local builder who told me all the fees and charges on a new home adds up close to $20,000 before you start building.
This word has gone crazy or I am just getting old and cranky.
Cheers John

Nope crazy is right.
We did a 1 into 2 on our house block, put it off and then they had a forced council amalgamation.
An extension application was now $1300 and we keep that either way thank you.
And by the way, your roads contribution will go from $700 to $36,500 under the new council.
Got in and did it real smart under the old rules. Bloody madness !

$60 a week for a mooring with no added extras is sounding REAL good at the moment!!

Perhaps they should charge your mooring fees per cubic mtr. of boat space. They probably havn't thought of that.

Stop ya whinging, ya could be in the Greater Wollongong council area. There you would be adding a 0 on the end for each piece of paper that slides across the desk and still wait more than 2 yrs before ya get to find out if ya paid enough or they found yet another form for you to fill out. At the end of all that you could still not get the approval and not a hint of a refund to be seen, but if you do get an approval you'd best have lots of $$ to cover the next stages. It had reached the stage quite some time ago that the average person either bought from or sold to a developer or paid the cost of getting a building company to get things through council because the average punter went broke before they got to the actual construction stage or well before it was finished.
