Equal pay

Post by Dot »

Who has any knowledge of wage differences between male and female wages in any profession? I know that there is a huge difference with Barristers wages.

equal wages in SOME professions simply means less jobs.
A lot of jobs simply don't differentiate....
eg; workers in coal mines, truck drivers, shearers, nurses in Mannum Hospital!!

Nurses and teachers (especially early childhood teachers) were considered to be in jobs only occupied by females therefore they had a much lower rate of pay when these things were introduced. The pay scales have not altered since there have been a few males enter these fields.
