Dumb/funny/stupid questions...

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Well, to be honest, I didn't know she sold flowers .........
"tanks" here T-1,
here is another one---Don't let washing kill your wife. Do it by electricity.

Ah, statistics, my favourite hobby horse. If only 1 person in 100 is correct, statistics say he doesn't know what he is talking about. The 99 that are wrong can then be broken up into those who most commonly get the answer wrong and those who get it wrong by their own methods ..... no matter what theories are applied to the statistical data, the likelihood of the correct answer being achieved is less than 1%. This means that a solution based on statistics can be up to 99% wrong creating a greater problem than existed in the first place. The second analysis of the new data will never see the original correct answer because that was ignored in the first data analysis ...... This explains how a govt can keep coming up with the wrong solution yet have even increasing confidence they've got it right this time

""tanks" here---Ray,
then you must have learnt the Chebyshev Theorem in your young days;
Chebyshev's Theorem is a fact that applies to all possible data sets.
It describes the minimum proportion of the measurements that lie must within one, two, or more standard deviations of the mean.
Keith.
Yes, Keith,
Covered standard deviations, but that was more years ago than I care to remember.
My 40YO son was not even thought of at that time.
(Well, to be honest, we'd thought many times about the method of getting him going.) ;) :P

Continually head butting them has trained me well in just how they make such stupid mistakes over and over again. The Dilbert method of promotion to managerial roles also explains a lot. I think the term promoted to a level where they are no longer competent was the old system, now they pick the ones who would be a danger to all if they remained on the shop floor, so they promote them into managing those that actually know what they are doing. If they fail well enough in that role, they get promoted to designing new systems to replace something that was working well. They are then promoted even higher if they can include those suppliers that support the upper level management get by because the outrageous money they are already paid isn't enough to live the life style they believe they are entitled .......... from there the next step in a govt position

I could draw you a diagram, but I'd probably get a stern letter from Dottie.
... or maybe an invitation. ;)

A bloke leans over to me on the train, shows me a photo of his wife, "Isn't she beautiful" he says.
I reply "If you think she's beautiful, you should see my wife's friend"
"Is she a real stunner"
"No, she's an optician"
