Calendar tip

Post by Greynomad »

Calendar tip:
It’s that time of year when we seem to accumulate calendars from businesses and clubs.
If you hang a calendar in your motorhome, it’s odds-on that it will swing about on its single hook.
To avoid the swinging marking the wall, just add another mounting point.
I use the small A5 size calendar from a Certain RV Club, which does not have a spiral wire binding, making this trick easier: I use an ordinary office two-hole paper punch to make holes either side of the original. I have mounted two hooks on the wall at the appropriate positions. VOILA!! No swinging.
If you have a spiral-bound calendar, which doesn’t fit into the hole-punch, simply add a single hole in the bottom of the calendar pages and mount a hook upside down at the bottom of the calendar. Using one which has a fold-up wire hook pivoting on the base makes this easier, or you could trim the hook so the page pops over it with the calendar suspended from the top hook.

Google calendar doesn't have nice caravan pics like the motorhome one. Weird isn't it.

I no longer wear a watch, use a physical calendar or write lists on paper.

Shopping list is a note on the iPhone or iPad, they sync with each other (can edit the list as I pick things up in the shop), time is the clock on the iPhone.

I know this is not for everyone but it works for me. The downside is that my handwriting looks disgusting as I hardly ever do it. Not to worry T1, I will pay you by internet Bank transfer. I can’t remember the last time I wrote out a cheque.

I would feel undressed without my watch & ear rings, they are just part of my attire, I sometimes check time on iPad but rarely on iPhone, really is just what you are use to doing & always have a hand written note to take shopping or I would come home with half of what I wanted.

OK, so you can write on Google Calendar.
I assumed it was the same as a (non-Apple) app I have on my iPhone. The Apple calendar is writable, and I use it as an electronic diary. The other just has a prettier face & I can put a pic up as b/g.
But getting a month or year to a page/screen takes a few keystrokes, the one hanging in Girt doesn’t. The screen only shows one month, the paper calendar has the previous & next months on each page.
I use both electronic and paper diaries, to do & shopping lists.
So I am not arguing for the exclusive use of one over the other.
Just posted my hint to help people avoid scuff marks on m/h wall.

Besides, with an iPhone or other electronic calendar, you can’t tear a corner off to use as a bookmark.
(Remember good old paper books?) 😁

... or for that matter, staple a business card or appointment card to your iPhone. 🙄🤣
Ya hafta key in the details. 😟
