Advertising poll.

Post by BruceS »

Sorry folks for running off before I posted this but it was a question of my wedding tackle or a post!!!
Grandkids had to be returned!
Back on deck now!

I'm going to try to put up a poll to gather some CONSTRUCTIVE opinions.
There is a cost to hosting the forum & I have several choices.

Do it at my cost as my contribution to our members.
Run one ad like you see at the top of each page.
Run one ad at the bottom of the last page of each topic.
Run both ads as you see it now.
Have a PayPal DONATE button for contributions.

I'll now attempt a poll for your opinions & posts are welcome to add comments.
Poll will run for 5 days.
Votes can be changed.
One vote per member.

My preference is for no ads. at all.

However, I have no idea of the costs of running a website - so logically speaking, whichever makes it easier from your perspective is the way I'd be prepared to go.

If I could be sure that sufficient donations would be forthcoming then I'd choose that option... until that becomes clear I'd rather have the forum with the ads than no forum at all.

Thanks for your efforts so far.

Ads now turned off rather than lose any more members.
Sorry to see you all go.

Someone has to pay. Everything else has ads that I mostly ignore so I'm happy to to go along. Vote done.

IO am happy to pay (already have for one forum and happy to do so) but would put up with what we have if needed.
I chose the paypal option but happy any way but you should not have to pay from your own pocket.

As long as the ad at the top is static, no flashing rubbish, I hate them. I'd be happy to donate as well so I'll go with flow, as long as they aren't moving flashing ads

Dear Mr and Mrs Admin,
As and avid reader (lurker  or someone gleaming info/or pisxxxx from laughter  ) of posts on this forum,I personally find that I'm more interested in the words of a post. An example would be open google; open news; open a news item. When viewing news item there is sooooo much crap around the story, I 90 % of the time tunnel vision to the story only.As per previous PM life has it ups and downs, even though unemployed etc (the usual to 'old' not that hey tell you!,no experience etc etc etc) I/We would donate then lose the 'Happy Forum'. Yes the above is a bit personal, but I think you have provided a great place (forum) to go to; how does it go Laugh and Live Longer

I dont wish to make this a costly forum, we could also lose very valued members, so I vote for the ads to stay. Most of the places that I frequent have banner ads and really, after a while, you just dont look up or down at them. So now the ads are not a problem at all. I see this as beeing far superior to either you having to beg for money or worse you having to pay up out of your own pocket. :)
