Implants
Hi. Has anyone had any implants done ( teeth not boobs ) as I have to have another tooth removed due to a root canal getting infected after a number of years that is next to one already missing. Probably prepared to pay the money if I have a good idea that it will work and not give any trouble in the future. Cheers John

Re: Implants
John, you are in the same boat as me. Need the job done, but a bit apprehensive about it. My dentist said it might finish up costing 6k for one tooth. He says a dentist and a dental specialist as well. I told him that I will wait a bit before I make that decision. Hope your work goes well.
A friend of ours has had a few done. She reckons its a good move, just exxy.

Get it out and be done with it, I had root canal and a crown fail, the cost of those and no guarantees if redone = nah out they came. Where is your offending fang?

Re: Implants
Mine are bottom doubles. Quoted about $5000 each so the two will be about $10,000. Have to see the specialist soon. Cheers

Re: Implants
Take a dental holiday to Thailand and get the implant done there. The implant and holiday would work out cheaper that the implant here would cost. If you do a Google search, you will find agents in Australia offering dental work in Thailand.

Re: Implants
We went though this with one of the boys when he was getting braces. His adult eye tooth was missing. So we had the choice to shift everything around and make space for an impant or shift things around and squeeze them up.
The ortho gave us the pros and cons. His opinion was to close the gap. At 13 years old, he would have a life time of the implant and screw thingy always exposed.
You have to be extremely careful of bacteria and cleanliness. If the bacteria gets onto the metal and finds its way inside the body (ie living on to the metal that is screwed into the jaw bone) you're in for some problems.
Same applies for metal screws and things inside your body.... but with teeth, the stud screw thing penetrates the skin in the mouth which a bit of a bacteria ridden area.
