It's about having simple resizing software - there are many including good free programs. They offer different ways of resizing and the setting to select is: 'pixels' then select 'maintain ratio'. Or similarly worded.

I usually select 990 pixels. Other variables will decide how big your photo will appear in the forum after it has been opened .
No need to worry about that.

I use Image Resizer and choose Custom, (fits a 600 by 400 screen). The photo below, Taggerty Get Together) was resized from the original of 452 Kb to 45.5kb.

Bruce, I also use Irfanview and usually when I have had trouble it is because I have not checked to make sure it is no longer than 1000 pixel on the longest side. I wasn't sure what the settings were. Now I know. Thanks.
I have found that Irfanview is simple and quick, just 4 mouse clicks and it's all done. Simple.

Seeing as frogs are on topic, here's a pic of our pet green frog Forrest.
He is here sitting under the microwave in the bus, He would come in every morning and have a wash in the sink - we left water in for him, and find a place to sleep, under the microwave was one of his favourites.
He would go out by squeezing under the door each night, do whatever frogs do and return again early each morning.

Even brought a friend in sometimes.

BTW I use Paint.net to resize...

Seeing as we are still on frogs, here is one that lives in our letterbox.

#7 Perfect reflections. I have just resized a photo to 498mg & still too big but I thought 500 was the maximum! I use Faststone image viewer & this is the only place I have problems.
