Back to the Cortina  What motor are you planning to run? They were back in the 4 cyl 1300 to 1600 pushrod engine era, but a 2ltr Cosworth will fit in there https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/322802707315 ... just sayin' I have all the bits if you want to build a 4.1ltr 6 cyl turbo 450hp engine .......

As it is a very original car I will keep it that way. It has a 1600 crossflow with a 4 speed floor shift. Had a Mk1 Cortina I was going to trick up but sold it a while ago as I knew it would never get done. Still have a TR7 sitting in the shed that was going to get a V8 but that probably will never get done as well. Too much to do and not enough time and the interest in these projects is waning.

Motor has had a full rebuild. Had three motors here. Two worn out and one OK. Found the OK one had a cracked head so with a lot of help from a retired mechanic we made one good one out of all the bits. Have ordered all of the suspension rubbers, new front struts and brake kits. My retired mechanic re-coned the alternator, starter motor, fuel pump, oil pump and distributor and now working on the carby. He has saved me a lot of money and worry and I will owe him a retrim if he restores another car. He is looking for a 3 wheeler Reliant Robin if anyone knows of one.

My parents once told me that (before I was born) Dad disassembled his motorbike engine on the kitchen table… cos the house didn’t have a garage.
Mum was less than amused…🤯

Funnily enough, he never did that again.
Wonder why… 🤔

Bruce & his 3 brothers slept in a huge bedroom, his younger brother took the motor out of his Fleetmaster Chev they didn't have a garage, it ended up on a table set up in the middle of their bedroom when I shook my head when I saw it, the future mother in law said, " they had no where else to do it Shirley, "

Have now removed the paint on all of the body the hard way with stripper and steel-wool ready for undercoat. A bit of body filler or the rear panel as it has been replaced a some time.
