No arty glass to show you Dot. After I looked at the bowl this morning, I decided that it needed a lot more smoother edges. So I used my fancy dremel tiny diamond saw thing and sliced off the edges. It was way too thick to use a normal glass cutter.
But of course now It will need to return to the fire to get the edges looking a bit more polished. Never a dull moment hey? xxxx
Thanks for the research Robert and Keith. If I ever get a decent crop again, now I know where to head to get those fiddly rings. Even our tomatoes that were giving us an average of 1-2 kilos per day have slowed down to just a few small toms each day now. I bought a few boxes of toms over the years from our local hydroponic man and bottled them. He has closed up shop, so no longer a cheap supply. Hence losing interest.
We did a fair bit of shopping today, so no kiln firing. Biggest disappointment was in aldi. I needed bacon, but all of their bacon products were from the same place. They all claimed made in Australia from 10% Australian product. To me that means they used Australian water to make their bacon. No bacon was bought today and I will leave that for the next visit to the local butchers. He makes his own from Aussie pork.

Dot, stay safe away from germy peoples mate. Hope your throat feels better in the morning. xxxx
Had a bit of domestic day and did a few jobs around the house. Nothing exciting. The bowl went through the kiln again today. I have lost count of how many times it has been fired, so here's hoping today was it's last fire. One more rerun bowl to go before I can start firing up 2021 made stuff.

Deborah,
An idea???? Can you make some glass blobs with a mossie or something inside? They could be sold as fun Covid Virus "thingies".

Hope you are feeling better today Dot xxxx
Jon, you are quite a thinker. Yes I can make glass blobs, but anything organic inside said blobs will turn to ash, well below the 780degrees c that is needed to fire them, Cremation ashes are about the only thing that would stay in the same form inside the glass and well, that seems a little gory unless the ashes belonged to close friend or family member. I even tried to fuse in some opal podge (the grey rubbish opal) and it just went to ash too.
We are starting to think that the house across the road from us has become a pub. The occupants are still out there yahooing (at 11:20pm) and carrying on. I do wish I was a morning person and could get the lawn mower started early. I reckon there should be some sore heads tomorrow.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Better today Deborah thanks but still a tad scratchy.I would let you have a go at the ashes in blobs, I reckon it would make a great sun catcher. I have 3 dogs and 4 cats in their jars. Think about it
We had a really noisy neighbor in NZ, she knew I worked night shift yet would do a bit of mowing, stop for 10 mins and repeat & repeat, so when she put her sprogs to bed the chainsaw was needed to cut some fire wood up, happened their bedrooms were right next to our carport. Took her a few days to put 2+2 together
. I have actually got a tomato plant growing in one of my pot plants, it even has a few toms on it
Watered the lawn today seeing as no rain on the horizon and the grass was looking a bit sad. I had a friend of mine do a few special T shirts for my mate in NZ for when her bro is finally off her property and in the right kennel. See the HTFFBO is in a caravan park just out of Kalgoorlie for a few days $35 a night.
Pretty dirt though.
Time for bed e buys, goodnight everyone x

In our previous house, we bought a potted rose and planted it. The rose died, but we got a LOVELY crop of pumpkins, which lasted two years!!Dot wrote: ↑Fri Jan 08, 2021 12:43 am We had a really noisy neighbor in NZ, she knew I worked night shift yet would do a bit of mowing, stop for 10 mins and repeat & repeat, so when she put her sprogs to bed the chainsaw was needed to cut some fire wood up, happened their bedrooms were right next to our carport.
