Q re eyesight & $$$

Post by Dot »

Why can eyesight (mainly cataracts) be restored for $25 done out in the open air and yet here in Aust the poor oldies have to wait years and pay thousands for the same treatment?? :?

Stop complaining, if you stopped doing it when you got glasses you wouldn't have got cataracts. That's what I was told in the confessional any how. :?:

Have you seen the obscene price of replacing your glasses lately? I believe that if you are game they are much cheaper on the interweb, but that takes courage.
My new specs with triple lens thingos and transition to grey colour just cost me $500 AFTER the health fund rebate. They are definitely not a fashion statement and I chose from the cheapy range of frames, so go figure. Not really happy here either. Just wish I felt brave enough to order over the computer.

Mine are bi focals with the transition thingos as well and I will need to have then checked soon but I will just be changing the glass not the frames if they do need changing.. Rip off for sure.. I feel so sorry for the oldies and the length of time they wait, most of them die before treatment :(

I have to have regular eye checkups. (diabetes)
My specialist gave me a few tips.
By law any place that sells you glassess must give you the 'results' or the prescription or whatever you wish to call it showing each eye & the strength prescribe IF YOU REQUEST IT.
You then can go to your local roadhouse or other cheapshop outlet, (cheapaschips etc) & just grab those that suit for 3-4$$$.
In my case I have diff for each eye so I buy 2 of the same but diff strength & swap to suit me & throw the left overs in the bin.
It's the darn frames that we're being ripped off with.

EDIT: Dot I bet they tell you that they can't get new focals to fit those frames!!!
