You're right of course, but I said their biggest problem was finding staff. That says it all.

In my experience over 15 years with oldies in the homes I would still prefer Padmans palaces to some of the shitty places I've experienced including that run by my sister in law.

The buck has to stop somewhere and I guess my golfing buddy would have to accept that too.

The fire caused by dat nurse is an example of how to fix staffing problems?

I know of one old dear that drowned in the bath because the attending nurse got called to assist elsewhere. Short staffed yes BUT she should have stood her ground and said "when she had finished" That was brushed under the carpet. There was a drug overdose because of lack of balls to question the senior nurse and her calculations of a drug, (the patient survived) My pain relief was stolen by a junkie staff member (I wasn't that out of it as I saw her put the ampule between her boobs containing nearly all of my pethidine) and she got 12 mths without pay on the condition she go to rehab, after her 12mths off she was re employed but once again was caught signing other staff names in the DDA (drugs book) and putting the drugs down to made up patients, There are millions of stories that never get told they get buried. You should be in any place of care when the accreditation inspections are due, huh now that is one big con and deceptive time all round, boils down to the almighty $$$$. Sad but true so never judge a book by the cover.

What no Banal from anyone for days now  really must be me then 8-) the 15th June saw my son turn 43 and still he hasn't grown up. Today is another bright sunny and warm day after a frosty night (outside) G is down at the little cottage doing a small job and I have just finished planting 50 daffodil bulbs. Tomorrow the man is coming with his big chain saw and chipper to get rid of the scrappy trees and one large gum tree that is not in the best of health so before it falls over the neighbours place she will be next yrs wood supply and all the chipped stuff for the garden. Last week we took Miss meow (the pussy) to the vet to have a broken tooth removed as it was giving her discomfort, rough price was $300 odd because her other teeth were in such good nick OK with that I guess, have to have her in tip top cond to go away with us sometime soon. All went well and she came home with the account of $553 :o  yep for the broken tooth and the one next to it (nothing to hold it in now) x/r, a blood test, a pain jab, and antibiotic jab. Should have taken her to the dentist.. I feel so sorry for the aged people with pets as these prices are totally out of reach for most people. I am paying the vet off again. My physio who lives in town had his rabbit deknackered and it cost $150 all up so what is the difference between extracting 2 teeth and 2 balls?? :? Might get the mower out now the grass has dried off supposed to rain tomorrow or Thurs.. No more op shop for me I quit, they do not give a rats bum about the safety of their volunteers.. once again the almighty $$$$ rules.

Geesh that's more expensive than my dentist for the broken tooth!

Actually, having been to a dentist here in grafton, ....it IS cheaper getting treatment in this particular country town...I still did my sums after he gave me a quote for a crown and. Few other jobs, and so the end of August sees me and my daughter ...who has some major dental work to have done...Aussie quote for er was $16,000...so we're off to Phuket for two weeks dental treatment! Even with flights and hotel, MUCH cheaper.

I dunno what the weather is like your way, but here near Grafton we've had a few deluges, but we now seem to be having a few days of 20 degs ...just a couple of hours a day...then 3 deg at night! So glad we have the diesel heater in the caravan!

We have our "New Best Friends" visiting "for a week or two" tomorrow! We met them a while back at a free camp, he plays ukulele, she's just finishing a psychology degree...so we've been getting a bit of psychobabble from her (I never told her I studied psychology a few years back! Why bother..), they ae both a bit opinionated so we'll see how long they last! Since when Greg gets up we walk to the ablutions in the shed nekid, we'll both have to change our routine a bit! Yea
..even in 3 degs!

They are not blood enough friends to make paella for!

Hugs
Dee

This tree had to go, it had some disease but the wood shall be next yrs heat and the mulch will do the garden nicely.. The tree men were here at 10am and left at 2.30pm. They cleaned up another dozen or so strappy trees and mulched them as well.. Cost was $400, good deal I'd say, over a ton of wood currently selling at $310t and a few trailers of mulch I'd say we got out moneys worth good and proper. He even cut the wood into fire size lengths :D
