At last I can report that all repairs are now complete and we can begin to return to normality. The journey was almost 4 months long and over $45,000 in cost but, although a slow process, we are happy with the end result and grateful that we were able to remain living in our Motorhome in our garage for the whole time.

Now looking forward to planning some getaways.

Glad it finally worked OK for you Lesley. Those little hoses must cost insurance companies an absolute fortune every year. And you can't really tell when they are about to fail. At least now can finish your last trip. :D

"tanks" here ---
What a relief this must be for both of you to be able to regain entry and living in the on-the-dirt unit/villa/house and a bit more room to enjoy that which you have. You don't have the base place to live in the motor home parked in the garage.
.
Can you claim any compensation from the Insurance leaches for not living in the unit for this past period. The repair /replacement costs go to the tradesmen who rectified the damage---what about the damage you have to your usual living accommodation arrangements..go for the dollar Leslie; that is why you have insurance, and they will try every angle to get out of what they have to pay out.

Rant -----and so early in the morning.
Keith.

Great to hear your news Lesley & Erich. Back to normality - should have all your trips planed! Got our shots yesterday and no clots as yet!

This post heading always reminds me of the chappie that was so glum
A little bluebird sat on his shoulder one day and happily Trilled "cheer up, things could be worse"
So he cheered up, and sure enough, things got worse.

Glad to see that this does not apply to some here :) :D

Thanks for the happy thoughts folks! We are pleased to be almost back to normal.

Tanks, I appreciate your thoughts but that is not our style. We consider ourselves fortunate to have been able to live in “relative” ease during the last almost 4 months. Moving out and living away would have been more of an inconvenience. It was our choice as the insurance company would have paid our accommodation during the actual repair phase. The insurance company, Assessor and building company were remarkably easy to deal with, for which we are eternally grateful.

Hopefully lightning doesn’t strike twice. 🤞

Leslie you maybe gained a little on dthe Reno with the insurance company not having to fork out for accommodation for you, win, win both ways & hopefully your premium will stay similar, certainly hope the fault has been rectified so it can't happen again.😢
