New Thread... Recipes mostly for crap cooks

Post by Dot »

I am such a crappy cook that I thought that I would start a new thread to not only help me but others that may need a hand or a new way of doing things, I will start off with the recipe for "A Stew or A Casserole" After a couple of weeks or so Someone else can pick a subject / recipe and so it goes. Any suggestions on this idea?? Lets start with MAIN Meals only. Lets get started ,,

Are you looking for an easy recipe for George to try at Taggerty Dottie?
Aldi do big cans of thick soup that is as close to a stew as one would need for the single saucepan heat up and pour over buttered toast ..... grated cheese on top makes it quite an exceptable lap top dinner while watching the TV .....
It is a step above boiled water, so a bit of supervision may be required the first few times ;)

I'll tell the truth!
I found a few really bit forequarter chops in the freezer that the bride was working on.
I'd love a nice casserole with veg & chops in it but to start ................. ???
I'll have a go & document my successes & failures. Dogs next door might benefit?
Some ingredients might be .........
Water, salt, spice?, chops cooked in dish in oven.
Then maybe add veg that have been almost cooked in a saucepan?
Maybe some cornflour to thicken a bit (or a lot?)
Cook in oven for further 45 minutes maybe? Ad more corn flour if too runny or water if too gluggy?
Do I put some gravy in it or not?
HELP!!!

Bruce, do you have a Croc-Pot? There must be one down in the bottom cupboard. It's the pot with an electric power cord.

Dot, :D we need Derek the cook, I'm sure he'll have several easy recipes, just use slow cooker instead of camp oven.

Turn cooker on.

Throw in chops, and peeled and cut veges. (eg beans, potatoes, small onion, turnips, white veges, carrots, maybe sweet purple potato etc)
Pour in stock.
add water.
toss in some small pasta things.
sprinkle some herbs.
put lid on.
check occasionally, make sure it's not boiling but nice and hot.

come back hours later.
mix a little corn flower with water. add a tablespoon or more to it slowly to thicken it up - not to much. (or even use some Deb)
