NSW Registration Increase

Post by Newcastle George »

I am just about to re-register the bus and was comparing the price of previous regos. (excluding Green Slip)

Last year: $475.00 includes Road Use Charge of $418.00
This Year: $601.00 includes Road Use Charge of $542.00

On making an enquiry with the RTA I have been advised that the increase is due to changes to the National Heavy Vehicle pricing. The increase in the Road use Charge this last year amounts to, in my case due to a fractured femur, $1/km.

How much did the 3rd party go up by George?

Close enough to $950 all up, I expect it will be well over the $1,000 mark by the end of the year.

Dont know what you lot are complaining about!!! Our little bus is not even a Heavy Vehicle - weighs in at just over the 4 tonne mark - 4.83t I think - in 2010 it cost us $974.00 for 12 months rego -
Reg & other fees = $498.00
CTP Ins prem (ex GST)= $437.02
GST on CTP Ins Prem = $38.98
Total = $974.00

Will be interesting to see what it has gone up by when we re register it ( when ever that will be
Mind you, it is close to that much over here to register our Ford sedan, so in our case, the bus costs approx the same as a car to register. Insurance on the other hand......

Aussiegirl the cutoff point is 4.5 tonne. Once over that it doesn't matter if it's 8 or 10 tonne.
That is the main reason the Coasters and Civilians are so popular.
The Isuzu NPR250 & 300 also come under the limit too and that's why you see quite a few as motorhomes.
Do you know what your vehicle weighs in travelling condition without any towed trailer or toad?
It might be possible to have it derated.
Make?
Model?
Weight?
PS. It's the rated capacity of the vehicle not what it weighs that matters.
My point in asking you what it weighs loaded is simply if it weighs in at 5 tonne loaded then there's no point getting it derated to 4.450 tonne .
