Laugh down your noses as much as you like, but when the spelling is not right the whole meaning of the sentence goes awry.
Then the average person's brain corrects it in an effort to make the poster seem logical, which admittedly sometimes is not easy.
Fortunately, I was raised with a good education and teachers that actually encouraged the usage of dictionaries.
Apart from that I do cheat a bit and use an app called Grammarly

I'm one of the worlds worst spellers, I thank Apple spell check everyday & often use a dictionary when writing.
