glaucoma - a possible prevenative treetment???

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Very interesting read Jon,I take Natures Own, vitamin B3, 500mg Nicotinamide daily, my Dermatoligist told me to take them to support skin health, recently had my eyes checked by Optomerist after Bruce was diagnosed with Glaucoma, all good & I didn't need new reading glasses.😀😀

Taking Bruce to have his Glaucoma & lenses implants checked again tomorrow, he complains about feeling like he has sand in his eyes, I have purchased him lubricanting drops, so we'll get the specialist's opinion.

My right eye (the one that had the lens replaced) hurts like there is something in it when I wake up at night and try to read, so I still have to close that eye to read in bed at night, Ive tried just reading through that eye and I can't get it to focus, yet once I'm up and about it's fine. If there is a lot of glare, my eyes hurt like I've had a welding flash and after a while it doesn't matter if I put sunnies on or the distance glasses, they still hurt, yet the reading glasses seem to soothe them .... as long as I don't try to focus part an arms reach, any further than that and the pain returns .....
Having never needed glasses to read or close up work before, it's a real pita to have to go and get my glasses to see small wiring or writing ...... but at least I can see much better now, especially after getting the new glasses to suit the rebuilt eye 8-)

I'm the same with the reading. I never had a problem, but now, need glasses.

With out them, my arms aren't long enough. When I can focus on the small print, it's too small to read.... but not blurry. grrrr.

You can both look forward to having to get the magnifying glass sometimes, to read something WITH your reading glasses on !

Yes it's a worry - I have started to take a photo of those labels with impossibly small writing on, then enlarge on the photo on the phone to read

Result of Bruce's Specialist consultation, his Glaucoma is very advanced, worse in the right eye, he is to remain on the nightly Xalatan (Latanoprost) one in each eye drops, they make his eyes feel like he has sand in them but this should settle down over time, important that he maintains 6 monthly visits to keep track of the Glaucoma, other than the Glaucoma his eyes are good & healthy.

Bruce's long distance sight is excellent, the single vision glasses with 2 different lenses are good for reading at half arms length but no good for close vision, solution maybe permanent glasses with graduated lenses with clear glass from top graduating down, he was told to persevere with the single vision glasses for now.

Bruce had a couple of magnifying glasses already in use before he went near the Specialist needless to say he still uses them.
