Sounds like a connection failure somewhere.

Not sure if this might apply to your system or not, but...
When we were travelling around Tassie recently we couldn't pick up any signal at all.
Short version was that the circuit board in the mast head itself had shorted out... due to non supply/fitting of the rubber boot to cover the entry point of the cable into the antennae.
Replaced the head unit & all was good.... about $260.

Re: Digital TV in a van for Dummies
The digital signal unlike the analogue signal has to be spot on. So when positioning your aerial it has to be exactly pointing in the direction of the digital signal. In areas where the analogue signal is still active you can use it to your advantage by adjusting the aerial direction to obtain the strongest signal on analogue setting. For areas that do not have the analogue still active it is very difficult to locate the digital signal. If you have a winegard you only have to be 1 notch out on the direction adjuster and you will have no signal. A good quality digital signal finder is a must. Or if you are serious about TV get a sat dish.

Thanks Craig. That makes sense.
Will keep experimenting as we travel. We aren't all that serious about TV watching so outlaying $$$$$ for satellite is not high on the agenda and then there is the question of where to carry the dish as we only have a smallish rig.

For instances like this I often wonder if we should have a password protected list of phone numbers of members.
Lesley may have switched off her computer seconds before Bob posted that message.
Dot do you have her Ph number handy?
