Join CMCA only $44

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

$5 donation to a town that is prepared to set up a free camping area for us to stay a couple of nights is Ok, they also put in a dump point, to many people want everything for nothing, you can probably also fill up with water, if there were only more towns Australia wide prepared to do the same thing, that's my opinion.
Plenty of places to find to stay over if you don't want to go into the town & pay $5 to camp.

Places with iron pillar donation boxes always get my attention.

Places that don't make demands get even more of my attention.*

Places like I alluded to earlier that made it very very clear that we were NOT welcome get short shrift.**

*recently dropped literally hundreds ($) in a town where we camped for nix complete with a HOT shower laid on with tiles and taps!

**after driving hundreds of kilometres to get to this place, only to find I was persona non-grata within 15km of town and being forced to dangerously return dead tired, the memory remains indelible to this day!

Guess Cooktown is moving forward with setting up a camp area for $5 has to be a plus, I haven't been to Cooktown for 44yrs, we just camped in the bush back in those days, I don't think that there was a C.P. last visit, it was dirt & river crossing most of the way.

I am a member, but they still don't want to know what this caravanner thinks or let me have any say in their proceedings. Yes I know it is a club for motor homes, but they stand for the rv lifestyle that even us caravan owners want to protect. It may be hard for motor homers to understand, but we do all have the same interests at heart and maybe some of the things that affect us, might also be important to motor homers. I have done my share of sewing for the cancer appeals at various get togethers, but I don't count as a member.
Yes I hate the current wanderers mate, its a waste of paper. You need to have a computer in the car with you to access the relevant information regarding campsites, so why bother with it at all?

Good post Deborah, can you imagine the number of new members if they opened the door to caravaners and PLUS give all members, regardless of standing a vote. I know this is a bit of a delicate subject but fair dinkum we all share this common interest/lifestyle.

You may not believe this but I dare to say that a lot of full CMCA members also think the same as you.
Unfortunately in the past there's been a tradition of only electing members to the Board to carry on the traditions as they were laid down by the few when that first constitution was composed.
If the members keep electing Board members from the past we'll get little in the way of progression. (my opinion)
Many don't realise that it is now up to the current members to change that constitution if they don't like it. It can be done.

If you look at some of the recent gatherings (Easter is an example at Whitfield) you'll see quite easily that we are all mates when we're out and about.
Ask around & you'll find even Keith doesn't mind mixing it up as well. (Muckinup?)
Last year there were a couple of changes voted on to get the constitution changed. (by members)
I wouldn't mind another couple this year. It doesn't cost the club anything extra.

Do I hear some volunteers?

I agree we all need to stand together to protect our lifestyle, guess all caravan folk whether CMCA members or not get to use the dump points & R.V. friendly camps that CMCA have worked to create. We are all out there doing the same thing but we find both M.Hs. & caravaners sometimes don't want to know you that's just life.
