I had the same for launching my boat fitted a small stromberg carbie from a early Holden to make it run better on petrol.

We used to have a kero powered Massey Harris tractor on the farm, when we got a tractor or harvester bogged we used to fire up the Massey, it would always pull the bogged unit out.
On the road full time, sometimes?????
