We've an 8meter 6B&S cable for the folding panel, with Anderson plugs each end. Is this strong enough to use as a jumper lead? If so, are we better off isolating one battery or can all four be used - 4*120amp?
No it's not, you will melt it

Plan 3 ........
Shonky if it's only for the odd time that the engine battery fails you, why not use the 6B&S & leave it connected for an hour or so ....... then disconnect it & hit the starter.
It should be OK for charging the engine battery via solar but not for the starter motor sucking the copper out of your cable!

OK, plan 2 ?? Did you find it?
When I can't find my plans on paper I just make up another one... (or Terry does for me!!)

If you use Bruce's idea, leave it plugged in for 30 mins os so, then try the starter while it is still plugged in, as long as the engine turns over as normal, not the barely making over each compression stroke chug, it will be fine. The majority of the starting current will come from the start battery where is has built up over the 30 mins you waited, but some will also come from the house battery via the 6B&S cable. As long as the start battery voltage doesn't drop too much while cranking, no more than the 50 amps the 6B&S cable can handle will flow through it. I could explain why but your eyes would roll back

Hi, all.

Just a thought - my super folding panel makes a great rain shelter for the genset with the judicious use of timber to prevent heat transference.

T.I.Terry - is anything wrong with using a double adaptor to charge house and starter batteries simultaneously? Small words please.
N.B. Mrs shonky is going to email you a few lamingtons from the next harvest.

Is the double adapter in the 240vac cable so you can plug in 2 chargers? Or, in the 12vdc charger cable so 1 charger can charge 2 batteries? Either way, yes, can't see a serious problems, the one in the 12v lead will end up with one battery charged before the other one, but given time both will finally reach fully charged.

Do you need an email address for the lamingtons? Margaret will take them off me as I'm supposed to loose weight, so you'll need to label them Adult only XXXX, she says she doesn't open those ones  Don't send them via PM, I reckon Norman pinched the last ones and blamed Bruce  Well, I never got 'em anyway

Hi, all.

T.I.Terry - thanks for that - one question, however, do you have to lose weight or to have loose weight?
