Re: Enforced Townsville stay-2 weeks
Kay & Bruce,
Really sounds like that van has a problem or two?
Might be a combination of things causing problems.
A bit too heavy?
A bit rough road?
Brakes too savage when hitting a hole?
Suspect suspension?
Shockers not doing sufficent job?
This is the second (that I know of) major failure of axles & suspension and, touch wood, no real damage done to yourselves or others.
Let's hope it's just coincidence and not 3rd time unlucky!
Obviously some of thesze thoughts may have already crossed your minds?

Bruce van is not overweight.
Yes we came across the GRR but that was back July.
Bruce is paranoid about how he uses the brakes.
Bruce was not happy with the previous load sharing susp but now has Rocker/roller which Peter put on here in Townsville.
No shockers
There has been no real damage to van or us or anyone else as noticed & repaired immediately.
I think anyone who knows Bruce will agree that he is really safety conscious with all things.

If you take a van in the rough country things break, just like they do on 4x4's, the places you have dragged that van and come back out again is a real credit to the way it has been maintained and driven so full marks to both of you. I seem to break something every trip without getting off the black stuff

Yes Terry, Bruce is probably over cautious sometimes, especially with his laser thermometer which goes onto to tyres etc nearly every time we stop. Sometimes I would love to hide the dam thing.

Not such thing as being too informed, much better to get an early warning of a problem than to discover the end result, been there, do that, have the oil stained T ShirtMacca wrote:Yes Terry, Bruce is probably over cautious sometimes, especially with his laser thermometer which goes onto to tyres etc nearly every time we stop. Re: Enforced Townsville stay-2 weeks
When the van came back last week the nuts were soooooo tight he bent his tool trying to undo them. Mentioned it yesterday to the repair man & no, a torque wrench had not been used to check how tight they had been put on by his workman. Picked it up yesterday & guess what Bruce did immediately? Out with the torque wrench to check for himself. All good this time.
