Odds on it's the wheel bearings. You couldn't know how long since they were greased; if ever. The usual distance for bearings to last at speed if they are dry is a little over 100kms. At that point they are white hot and disintegrate.

That doesn't sound right.... loosing two wheels on the same side very close to each other (time/distance wise)

Not wheel bearings they are all ok.
Possibly loose wheels nuts although, one wheel that can't be located has been torn off leaving 5 studs with nuts still on.
Anyway not important why, just is.

One theory from a mate was that someone may have loosened some wheel nuts when I was asleep and I didn't check.
Lesson is to be more diligent.
