Re: Um somethings wrong
I reckon that a lot of those weird sensor light, touch light experiences are related to Mr Energex or whatever you call your local supply authority sending a signal to the Zellweger Ripple control relay so we can get some hot water. That would not be the case though in a stand alone, off grid RV setup. I reckon that would mainly be an extremely inadequate earth connection.

Supper sparky terry knows my setup and he knows the inverter isn't earthed to the chassis its sitting on ply . I hooked the van up to shore power today and nothing even with jug microbewave going so he might be on the rite track. I didn't get to do the earth today as I was fitting the extra panels . Bruce it worked ok no smoke .

Re: Um somethings wrong
The earth from 240vac out of the inverter is connected to the inverter body and the main earth wire harness and out to the extension lead coming from the RVD, the mains do not feed into the inverter as it is not a UPS type. The present method of supply is to plug a lead from the inverter into the mains connection plug in the side of the caravan, from there to the wiring network and earthed to the caravan body, all the usual stuff. I think the inverter is producing a frequency in the inverter body and this is being transmitted through the earth lead to the caravan body creating a rippling supply voltage parallel to the positive supply cables to these lights and into the rest of the wiring harness back to the switch. Because the switch is open the only path left to equalise the voltage is through the LEDs. The ripples are creating a pulse current, very small but enough to light up the LEDs, they don't need much energy to glow. Connecting the inverter body to the caravan body will bring the earth cable network to the same potential as the inverter body so no ripples will flow through the earth cable so no induced current.supersparky wrote:I reckon that a lot of those weird sensor light, touch light experiences are related to Mr Energex or whatever you call your local supply authority sending a signal to the Zellweger Ripple control relay so we can get some hot water. T1, It looks like we have both said the same thing twice now. I will send you a PM.
Dibsy, I wasn't trying to teach T1 how to suck eggs, I have great respect for the man and in his ability to diagnose a problem with very little relevant information.
