I agree David! I have one onboard. I tested all outlets when I bought the boat & found one wired wrongly.
David is there a device to be able to test what Amps will flip the tripper?
Needs one that you can start at 5A & be able to gradually turn it up till it trips while recording that trip point.

Re: Double GPO - 10Amp + 15Amp
Bruce, There are a few available, but not really in the price range of most motorhomers/ caravanners.
I have found from 'experience' that the simplest way to test the 16A c/b is to plug the toaster and the electric jug in at the same time.
Some of the sparkies that I know have made a little lead that you can hook an tong type ammeter through to check the current draw.
They aren't exactly legal though, so I won't put up a photo.
I would be interested to see if there is a commercially available device that does that job. I have never looked for one, just made my own.
Probably a good time to remind everyone that they should test their RCD's at least every three months, by pushing the test button.

Also, have a really good visual inspection of the power point as look to see if there is any sign of over heating, find another one if it looks at all suss. Many a lead has been wrecked by a dodgie caravan power point.supersparky wrote: ↑Mon Oct 16, 2017 10:23 pm It is a little bit scary to think about that. I would suggest that anyone/ everyone that stays in a CP should carry a RCD tester. They are small and cheap and can test the polarity and the milliamp trip value of the CP supply pedastal. I will post a pic of one when I find the link.
