The harrier will fit in a standard 300 or 400mm opening. The plate is positioned according to the hole size. Not as power efficient as a split, but still better than the old type. Swapping in or out is a doddle, all wires are color coded etc. Did my own for the cost of a few beers to cover the forklift to take the old one off the roof and put the new one up. Ours is now over 2 yrs old and has had a floggingvik351 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 06, 2018 11:05 amJust ended my warranty by replacing the fuse yesti... so thats the end of that, plus when I went to avida ,they didnt want to know about it, gave me a paper to reset the remote...T1 Terry wrote: ↑Thu Dec 06, 2018 10:55 am Is it still under warranty Vik? Those units are known to fail in the remote receiver area. The drainage for condensed water is so poor they get flooded and fail unless the van is perfectly level when the unit is running or de-ices itself when on heat mode.
Now for the not so good news, to change to another unit might involve a reconstruction of the frame that mounts the solar panels.
If they are not going to replace the thing under warranty then start a "Not fit for purpose" claim through Fair Trading and ask for a refund on the retail price of the Truma unit, then we can look at a better unit to fit in the same foot print, possibly an inverter cassette split system.

I have to replace a leaking Truma hot water unit that was replaced not long ago,I now think Truma should have a name change to.......TRAUMA ....it seems to be appropriate as for the cost of the item and problems created,at least for me.........Peter.

The hole size is the same but the off set at the front and rear of the hole is different. The aluminium tubular frame the solar is mounted on (a necessity on Avida's because the roof is made of rubber coated tissue paper) has a cross bar immediately in front and behind the air conditioner unit as can be seen here viewtopic.php?f=19&t=5793 and there isn't a lot a room between the 2 hatches and the second hatch is a bit bigger now because we upgraded it to Maxxair vent hatch.

If I remember correctly, I had to move panels as the harrier either has an increased front or rear mass. I at least didnt need to dodge ventsT1 Terry wrote: ↑Thu Dec 06, 2018 1:13 pm The hole size is the same but the off set at the front and rear of the hole is different. I guess once we get back there will be a few runs over with the tape measure to see just what is possible. There is a bit of room between the real back of the motorhome and the fibreglass panel to makes it look like a clean finish, so we could run air con pipes down through there to an outside spit system compressor. Just need to find a suitable sized ceiling mount cassette unit that will fit in the spot where the Trauma was if Vik decides to go that way. The ones I've seen installed work so much better than any of the roof top rattlers yet use a heap less battery, they just need some sort of cover assembly for the bit sticking out through the roof. That bit is normally in the roof cavity of a house, but I'm sure a fibreglass cover could be moulded off a standard roof rattler to cover it and make it look the part.

When I was looking at going that way, the hole cutout was larger than a 4 seasons hatch....hiding the plumbing was the other major issue. As it turned out, I would have lost the compressor unit had I gone ahead. My planned install for that was in front of the drivers side front wheel. Would have been taken out by one of the tire blowouts we had last year.
