My new UHF 400R arrived yesterday. Looks almost identical to my Old one.

So set about wiring up, only to discover no power. Scratches head as he wires up to existing wiring.

So after after a frustrating afternoon yesterday, gave up around 5pm.

Started again this morning only to discovered previous wiring had no power.

Anyway re consolidated and rewired to existing 12v/24v convertor, tested true.
Re tested old unit only to discover OK.
Old unit was working from Feb and earlier, stopped near Mildura, no idea why.

Maybe some gremlins or that Chinese bloke that visits from time to time.

Anyway now have a brand new heavier duty unit for $160 and a spare.
No point in spending any more time on what failed, all good and safe now.
Cheers

Install both and talk to yourself. It will be just like having someone in the passenger seat telling you what to do. The rest of us put up with it.  Why not you?

I don't need another radio to talk to myself, already happens.

We have some interesting debates, I always win.

More importantly, right or wrong doesn't matter.

Gawd that's nearly as bad as I am.
I set the voice direction on my GPS to female, Then when it wants to send me somewhere other than the quick way I can tell it to "shutup bitch"
and it doesn't crack a shirty, like some would.

Of course, that's because you're talking to someone of equal intelligence.
